In Pontevedra, leaving the hostel, you will take Calle Virgen del Camino towards the Sanctuary in Plaza de la Peregrina. Next, you will go through Rúa Soportales and Rúa Real, to then cross the Burgo Bridge on the north exit of the city. After the bridge, keep going on 200 m and then turn left on Rúa da Santiña.

You will walk on a path parallel to the railroad until you get to Pontecabras, leaving the river Cabras on one side. Then, you will have to go under the railroad and ascend towards Santa María de Alba Church. 500 m ahead, you will get to San Caetano Church. You will keep walking and passing by villages like Liborei and Castrado, to then cross the woods and find an old and beautiful “pontela”. From here, you will initiate an easy ascent to the railroad, crossing it and getting to Lombo da Maceira and then to San Mauro.  

Going on a lonely road, you will pass by San Mamed de Portela. Later on, you will find one of the most important places on the Portuguese Way: Valbón Bridge and Amonisa “cruceiro”.

From km 60 you can see the Romanesque San Martiño de Agudelo Church. The Way goes on zigzagging and once you reach Monllo, you get back to the N-550.

You will leave the road on Santa Lucía Chapel and take a path towards Tibo, where you will find a fountain and a great “cruceiro” when leaving the village. Being very close to Caldas de Reis, you will see Santa Martiña de Caldas and, after crossing the bridge over the river Umia, you will turn left to enter the historic centre of the town.
