This city is known as the capital of “Tierra de Barros” (Land of Mud) and city of romanticism and friendliness. Even though it has a great importance because of its monuments, its wineries are the ones really famous, not only for the quantity of their wine production, but also for the variety of products coming from its vineyards: gin, anisette and other regional liquors.
It was ruled by the Order of Santiago and its most prominent history was between the 14th and the 16th Century.
