CP16 - Vilarinho - Barcelos - 16,4 km

Itinerary

Once you have gone through Vilarinho via Rúa Da Ponte de Ave. You will go down to cross D. Zameiro Bridge. Go up and pass by Largo de Nossa Señora Da Ajuda, then get to the N-306, which comes from the new bridge; turn right to Parada intersection and V.N. Farmalicâo, and then again, turn right to get to Rúa das Camélias and keep going on to Sao Mamede Chapel. You will pass by the temple and then you will turn right to “Calçada da Estalagem” and the old “Estalagem das Pulgas”. You will be on the backside of Sao Simâo da Junqueira Monastery.

After passing by the old hostelry, you will continue straight on, crossing Arcos Bridge; then turn left, next to Arcos Chapel and continue on the left to Agoladas. In front of you, you will see the road that goes from Povoa to V.N. Famalicao. Keep going on the left for about 100 m, then you will pass by Borgoña and will arrive at Sao Pedro de Rates Romanesque Church. You will leave it via Rúa Directa, passing by Sao António Chapel and turning right via Rúa da Ponte do Burrinho to keep going on towards Baixa da Mulher Morta. Continue the route and you will pass by the following villages: Lameiro, Reguengo and Vilar. After passing this last village, you will keep straight on towards Ferrado, where the old way was cut by the construction of a private wall.

You will border this wall and will find a paved road where you will turn right to get to Real de Cima and then to Real de Baixo. Soon after, you will turn right to the N-306, continuing on it and passing by Chouzelas, Rua Nova and Silgueiros. Once you get to km 57, you will turn left on a causeway that leads to Pereira Chapel. From here, you will continue on the M-555, passing by Pontegaos, Monte do Cima, Fuloes, Carvalhal, Vila Cha, Porto Barreiro, Santa Cruz and Mercedes, to finally get to Barcelinhos.

Leaving Barcelinhos, you will enter Barcelos via the beautiful medieval bridge (from the 14th Century).
