CN01 - Hondarribia - San Sebastián-Donostia - 23,8 Km

Itinerary

You will leave Kaizarra Pier and via Calle Santiago you will head towards the historical centre, to Plaza de Armas, where you will find the Castle of Carlos V. You will go down Calle Mayor to Puerta de Santa María, and then you will keep walking until you get to Santa Engrazia Chapel. To the right, the stairs go up to a paved road that leads you to Santiagotxo Chapel, place where the Coastal and the Interior Way (coming from Irún) join. Now, you will initiate the ascent to the Jaizkibel Mountain. Soon after, you will turn right and then left, taking the path that leads to the GI-3440. After leaving behind a workers’ house, you will continue on a cement path. On the fork, turn right and before arriving at Txominenea workers’ house, you will go up the stairs leading to Santa Bárbara Chapel and to Guadalupe Sanctuary.

Taking the forest path from the sanctuary, you have to turn left to border the south hillside of the Jaizkibel Mountain. On this point, you will take the path that goes on the crest and ascends joining the old fortified towers of Erramuz and Santa Bárbara. Keep walking until you reach the top of the Jaizkibel, where you will find the ruins of San Enrique Castle. After enjoying the marvelous views, you will keep going on a path and descending towards a mountain pass. On this place, you will leave the path on the crest and will turn left to a trail that goes down towards Olazar workers’ house. From here, a cement road will lead you to the historical centre of Lezo.

Crossing the town, you will head towards Pasai Donibane via the promenade next to the GI-3440. Donibane Street leads you to the pier nearby the wayside cross, where you will take a motorboat to cross the estuary and get to Pasai San Pedro.

You will go through the narrow and cobbled San Pedro Street, until you see on your right steep stairs that, passing by the cemetery, go up to end in the access to the lighthouse. Later on, an easy ascent will take you to the Silver Lighthouse (Faro de la Plata).

On the terrace where the access to the lighthouse is located, you can turn left following a coastal path. Along the way, you will be able to see the old aqueduct. Keep on the paved path until you get to another trail that you will follow turning to the right. Along this path, you will keep going straight on until you arrive at Ulia Park.

On the park entrance, you will leave on the left the access path to the hostel and you will initiate the descent on the old tramline, which used to go from Ategorrieta to Ulia.

You will go down a path and keep walking until you see San Sebastián on the distance. Next to Arbola workers’ house, the path becomes paved and, on the first intersection, you will turn right and go down towards the coast. You will pass by Kursaal building and crossing the bridge you will access to San Sebastián Boulevard.
