In Galisteo, you will start the route crossing the medieval bridge over the river Jerte.
Keep going on and soon you will get to Aldeanueva del Jerte, a small village. After crossing it, you will continue on the road towards Carcaboso, where you will see some recovered milestones on the front façade of Santiago Church.
When the road starts getting narrower, you will see you are arriving at Cáparra.
Cáparra
The ancient Capara must have been a settlement even before the Romans and after the invasion, it turned into a city required to pay a tax to Rome. Integrated in Lusitania Province, it was an important mansion on the Silver Route and in those times, apart from the spectacular arch, it used to have an amphitheatre, a forum and baths. After Roman, Visigoth and Arab times, Cáparra kept a small population dedicated to help the pilgrims, but in the 19th Century it was abandoned.
Cáparra Roman City Interpretation Centre
