Itinerary
You will start from Praza do Obradoiro (in Santiago de Compostela), going down Rúa do Campo das Hortas to Rúa Galeras. From here, you will continue on Rúa de San Lourenzo to then reach an oak wood. Here you will find the first sign with a yellow shell.
Leave the city following the route and cross the river Sarela. Sarela de Abaixo is the last place from where you will be able to see the towers of the Cathedral. Along the route you will pass by Moas de Abaixo, Carballal, Quintáns, Ventosa, Lombao and Augapesada, where a medieval bridge has been recently rebuilt. In these place still prevails a great farming culture, which will allow the pilgrim to see many raised granaries, “cruceiros” and other manifestations of typical rural architecture in Galicia.
The Way starts going up towards Castiñeiro do Lobo to then access places like Susavila do Carballo, Trasmonte, Reino and Burgueiros. Then, the route descends to Ponte Maceira, one of the most interesting places in this stage, where you can see a great Gothic Bridge from the 14th Century. It is also recommendable to visit Capela de San Brais, a neogothic country house, and Muiños do Tambre. After this, you will border the river and continue to Barca to then leave the road to Negreira. Now, you will have to go to Chancela de Abaixo, where you can admire Chancela Country House.
From here, you will continue towards Negreira.
In this village you can visit Cotón Country House and the churches of San Pedro de Gonte and San Esteban de Landeira.
